The Origin window is a very attractive aluminium window that benefits from profile dimensions and depths making it suitable for all kinds of properties and as a direct fix replacement window.
Whether it is a traditional home that requires flush sash casements to match the outgoing windows, or a modern property with the latest in contemporary design needing large windows with a flat design, the Origin Window will be suitable.
Manufactured by Origin
Origin themselves are the only manufacturers of the window. This enables quality and processes to be consistent throughout as only one company makes the product.
This differs from other window systems that are supplied in bar length to fabricators all over the UK. Whilst this alternative supply process is not in any way a disadvantage for the consumer, in the case of the Origin Window it enables the company to control entirely the quality of the product, processes and manufacturing.
Additionally it enables the company to know exactly where their products have been supplied though their internal control and product processes. This again differs substantially from other systems companies that supply only bar length raw material and do not know where this product will be installed or who buy.
The Origin Window features a mechanically crimped frame that results in ultra clean smooth corners. This is an advantage over typical PVCu windows that are welded and then the excess weld cleaned off. At times this can result in corners that are not uniform in their appearance.
Window Options
Origin Aluminium Windows are available as fixed lights, top hung opening out, side hung opening out, dummy sash windows and gable windows. Bay windows can also be created.
Window handles are available as standard in chrome, silver aluminium, black and white finishes. Colour matched handles as an exact match to the powder coated finish of the aluminium window are also available.
Drainage is either by concealed drainage where there is a cill fitted to the window, or face applied drainage where there is no cill.
To meet the requirements of Fire Escape and Building Regulations, window are available as Egress type for emergency escape.
If a property requires long banks or “ribbon” windows to be fitted, this is achieved using bespoke coupling sections.
Where required and to again meet Building Regulations, trickle vents are fitted to the heads of the windows.
Colour Choices.
One of the major advantages of aluminium windows is the polyester powder coated finish. Not only does this provide a durable coating that will give many years of good service, but it also benefits from over 200 colours available as well as different coloured windows on the inside and outside.
The Origin Window is available in a range of standard colours comprising:
RAL 9910 white gloss, Grey RAL 7016 Matt, Metallic Silver RAL 9007, Slate Grey RAL 7015 Matt, Dark Grey RAL 7021 Matt and Black RAL 9005 Matt.
Dual colour options are also available, as well as two woodgrain aluminium options with the OW-80 product only, in Natural Oak and Golden Oak.
Security.
The window is marketed by Origin as being incredibly secure and utilises locking hardware by Yale. For the consumer, the Yale brand is a very well known one and will give peace of mind that one of the trusted brands in home security locking is fitted to the window.
Security in the Origin Aluminium Window comprises:
- Yale Encloser locking system with bidirectional locking arrangement to maximise security.
- Contemporary locking window handles also come as standard.
- Friction hinges on opening Origin windows are high quality stainless steel.
- Hinges are fitted to the strong aluminium frame with secure fixings.
- Hinges have excellent compression when the window is closed and feature a patented hinge geometry with hinge guards as standard.
- Restricted window hinges for high level windows or to prevent full opening of the opening sashes are also available.
Origin have tested the window to Secured by Design Standards resulting in a window meeting Police Preferred Specification and BS7950.
Window Cills
Depending upon the application three different cill sections are available in 95mm Stub cill, 155mm Standard Cill and 180mm extended cill section.
Glass
Double glazed sealed units of up to 28mm thickness are possible. Glass is held in place using an attractive chamfered bead that is internally beaded to preserve the clean external sight lines of the window. Windows can come with a glass specification comprising a soft-coat low-emissivity coating, warm edge or other enhanced spacer bars and argon or Krypton gas fill.
Triple glazed Origin windows are also available.
Performance.
The Origin aluminium window utilises the very latest in sophisticated “polyamide” thermal break technology to create a window that meets low U Values and is thermally efficient. U Values of the window are excellent and the U-Values you get depend on the glass specification chosen.
Origin windows do meet current Building Regulations as updated in 2022, but they must come with the correct glass type and specification and you may need triple glazing in some cases.

- Wind Resistance to wind load 2000pa Class A5
In severe applications such as swimming pool or coastal environments, the Origin Window is available with a high grade Marine Grade polyester powder coated finish with an extended guarantee on the paint finish.
