On 31st August 2016, Origin launched its latest new product – an aluminium front entrance door.
Called the Origin Residential Door, this contemporary and bespoke front door will be available to the trade from 1st September and rolled out to consumers on 1st October. The new Origin Residential Door provides a solution for homeowners needing a traditional or modern aluminium front door for their home in a choice of styles, options and colours.

As you would expect from a company like Origin, they have innovated again with their new range of aluminium front doors. One of the selling points of these new bespoke front doors is that they can also be used as a garage door for a consistent appearance at the front of a typical property.
The creation of an aluminium front entrance door provides several benefits over a PVCu or a composite door and one of these is large size doors. This is where Origin has used the aluminium advantage to its full benefit in creating wide and tall double doors that can be utilised in a garage application. The provision of a zero threshold option also does away with any concerns over vehicular access.
The Origin front doors come in a choice of open in or out doors, the addition of sidelights, toplights or combination frames.

The full door is made from thermally efficient aluminium in the outer frame and door sash. Utilising a polyamide thermal break it provides for an insulated door as well as one that is available in dual colours.
The panels consist of two external skins of aluminium with an insulated core. The panel is a multi-layer arrangement. The construction of the panel is 1.5mm aluminium, 4mm plywood, 21mm of insulation, 4mm ply and 1.5mm aluminium. Origin calls the insulated core of their new doors, Thermimax.
A choice of traditional and modern door designs is on offer in the full range of RAL colours giving over 150 possible colour options. Colour choice becomes more extensive when adding the range of wood effect finishes, dual colours as well as the option for satin, matt or gloss shades.
This broad choice of styles and colour options gives homeowners the chance to have either a traditional or a more ‘statement’ front door and of course the possibility of an aluminium garage door as well.
Origin doors provide designs catered for by composite doors.
In the range of panel designs are some traditional looking door panels. Those of us in the industry that remember the Monaframe front door with traditional aluminium panels such as the Emerald and Ruby ranges will recall what great sellers these were. They provided a solution for those customers that wanted to benefit from an aluminium front door as well as their new aluminium windows, sliding doors and side doors.
The choice of traditional panels addresses a need for those customers that want all the advantages of a new aluminium front door but in a more conventional and familiar style.
Three threshold options are available with Origin Residential Doors.
The new Origin front door comes with a choice of three threshold options. For a standard front door, there is the weathered or non-weathered option as well as a new, specially designed mobility threshold.
The mobility version is only 20mm high making it suitable as a ramp type threshold for disabled access. It can also be used internally for porch doors or in locations where the door threshold is not exposed.
Security and thermal efficiency with aluminium front doors.
The insulated panel combination will guarantee a door with excellent thermal performance. Added to this is a choice of 8 point multi-point locks or five point locks with the automatic lock option.
Security is a key feature of the new Origin aluminium front door having the latest locks and cylinders, the best in security door hinges and the overall design and construction of the product.
There is a choice of traditional looking lever handles, contemporary architectural bar and pull handles and a wide selection of accessories.

When used in combination with the colour choices brought only by powder coated aluminium, consumers can enjoy an individual front door in far more options than many composite doors provide.
As you would expect from a latest generation aluminium front door, there are hardware and accessory choices such as premium quality handles, door pulls, knockers and spy holes, letter plates, numerals and much more besides.
